Three NASA Astronauts Vote From International Space Station
NASA astronauts Anil Menon, Luke Delaney, and Jessica Watkins cast electronic ballots from the International Space Station for the U.S. midterm elections.
Three NASA astronauts cast their ballots in the U.S. midterm elections on Tuesday from the International Space Station. Anil Menon, Luke Delaney, and Jessica Watkins used electronic ballots to participate in the elections, which include contests for 37 Senate seats, 435 House of Representatives seats, and 36 governorships.
The crew members transmitted their encrypted ballots via the Near Space Network, a system managed by the Goddard Space Flight Centre in Greenbelt, Maryland. Menon reported that he cast his vote from his room on the station and sent the electronic form to Harris County, Texas.
Menon stated that the crew members had the privilege of voting from the station by filling out electronic ballots and sending them securely to election officials.
