Lingjun Investment Raises $300 Million to Resume Overseas Funding
Lingjun Investment raised $300 million from U.S. and Southeast Asian investors, marking its return to international fundraising after a two-year regulatory hiatus.
Lingjun Investment, a Beijing-based quantitative fund, has raised at least $300 million from a U.S. institutional investor and several Southeast Asian clients. The capital was secured through the firm's Hong Kong unit, Lingjun Capital, ending a two-year pause in overseas fundraising that followed a 2024 regulatory crackdown.
During the hiatus, stock exchanges in Shanghai and Shenzhen barred the firm from trading for three days due to rule violations, which contributed to a decline in assets to approximately 50 billion yuan. To restore investor confidence, the firm doubled its risk-management team, integrated risk checks into its trading systems, and created a five-member investment committee.
Chairwoman Cai Meijie linked the renewed international interest to AI-driven innovation and the success of the AI startup DeepSeek. Lingjun is currently in advanced negotiations for an additional $150 million from a Southeast Asian sovereign wealth fund and is targeting new investors in the Middle East.
