Vancouver Home Sales Drop 8.4 Percent in September
Greater Vancouver Realtors reported an 8.4 percent year-over-year decline in home sales for September 2026, driven by a slump in apartment transactions.
Greater Vancouver Realtors reported that home sales in the Vancouver region fell 8.4 percent in September 2026 compared to the previous year. The board recorded 1,717 sales for the month, a figure that sits 25 percent below the 10-year seasonal average. This decline was driven primarily by a drop in apartment-style home transactions, though sales of attached and detached homes slightly exceeded levels from the previous year.
The composite benchmark price for all residential property types fell to $1,075,900, marking a 5.5 percent decrease from September 2025 and a 0.6 percent dip from August 2026.
Market inventory showed mixed trends. New listings fell 10.3 percent year-over-year to 5,852, though this remained 5.7 percent above the 10-year average. Total inventory decreased 4 percent year-over-year to 16,394 units, which remains 24.3 percent above the long-term average.
