Anambra Government Warns Voters Against Peter Obi and NDC

The Anambra State Government urged voters to reject Peter Obi and the NDC, claiming a vote for them would destroy the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The Government of Anambra State has urged voters to resist the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2027 elections. In statements shared on X, state officials claimed that a vote for Obi would kill the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), accusing the former governor of attempting to destroy the party since 2014.

Theo Abu Agada, the NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, dismissed the warnings as cheap blackmail. He asserted that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is threatened by Obi's increasing popularity.

The political conflict is compounded by a dispute over financial legacies. Commissioner Law Mefor alleged that Obi left behind $123.77 million in external debt during his tenure as governor. Obi denied these claims, stating the figures result from an incorrect application of public-sector accounting regarding World Bank and International Fund for Agricultural Development programs.

While the NDC campaigns for the 2027 cycle, Governor Soludo and APGA have formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the presidency.
