Kerala Integrates AI to Transform State Tourism Sector

Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunadh announced the integration of artificial intelligence and a digital ecosystem into Kerala's tourism sector to transform the state into an international experiential destination. The initiative marks a strategic shift from promoting isolated destinations to providing a comprehensive, state-wide experience designed to be smarter, more inclusive, and sustainable.

To support this transition, the Government of Kerala is granting industry status to the tourism sector and developing a new tourism policy. This policy will prioritize digital initiatives and the promotion of tourism start-ups to modernize the industry's infrastructure.

The Kerala Tourism Department is collaborating with stakeholders to explore specific AI applications and is launching programs to help homestays adopt technology-driven management practices. These efforts aim to ensure barrier-free access for visitors and align local hospitality services with global standards.
