Oklahoma Voters Decide Governor and Senate Races
Oklahoma voters cast ballots for governor, a U.S. Senate seat, and two constitutional amendments regarding judicial appointments and property tax caps.
Oklahoma voters headed to the polls on November 3, 2026, to decide a series of federal and state elections. The gubernatorial race features Republican Mike Mazzei and Democrat Cyndi Munson, while Republican Kevin Hern and Democrat N'Kiyla Jasmine Thomas contest a U.S. Senate seat vacated by Markwayne Mullin, who left to serve as Homeland Security secretary. All five of the state's Congressional seats are also on the ballot.
Beyond candidate races, voters are weighing two constitutional amendments. State Question 845 proposes restructuring the Judicial Nominating Commission by removing party limits and expanding the number of attorneys eligible to serve. State Question 847 seeks to lower property tax assessment caps from 3% to 1.75% for homesteads and agricultural land, and from 5% to 4% for other properties.
While supporters argue the tax changes provide necessary relief, critics including Mayors David Holt and Monroe Nichols warn the measure could reduce critical revenue for municipal services and public schools.
