NSUI Sends Knives to BJP Leader's Home in Protest
The National Students’ Union of India sent knives and cutters to BJP leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy's residence following a dispute over alleged violent remarks.
The Karnataka unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) used online delivery platforms on Saturday to send knives and cutters to the residence of BJP leader and Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy. NSUI State President Kirthi Ganesh confirmed the action in a video statement, framing the deliveries as a protest against remarks Narayanaswamy allegedly made suggesting Congress leaders be cut into pieces and thrown into the Arabian Sea.
Narayanaswamy denied calling for violence, claiming his comments during a protest in Kolar were misinterpreted. He described the delivery of weapons as a tactic of goonda culture. In response, a BJP delegation led by R. Ashoka filed a complaint with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, requesting that the authorities register an attempt-to-murder case.
BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra condemned the incident, accusing the Congress government of promoting a culture of intimidation. Meanwhile, Ganesh challenged Narayanaswamy to harm a single party worker and encouraged other NSUI members to place similar orders to the leader's home.
