OpenAI ChatGPT Ad Pilot Hits 100 Million Annual Revenue
OpenAI generated over 100 million dollars in annualized revenue within six weeks of launching its ChatGPT advertising pilot in the United States.
OpenAI generated more than 100 million dollars in annualized revenue within six weeks of launching an advertising pilot for ChatGPT in the United States. The initiative began in January, targeting users on the free tier and the lower-priced Go plan to offset the high costs of artificial intelligence development.
Currently, fewer than 20% of the eligible user base see advertisements daily. The company has scaled its advertiser base to over 600 entities and reported that the pilot has caused no negative impact on consumer trust metrics.
To manage global growth, OpenAI appointed former Meta executive David Dugan to lead its advertising solutions team. The company plans to introduce self-serve advertiser capabilities in April and will expand the pilot program to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand in the coming weeks.
