TotalEnergies Acquires Operated Interest in Malaysia Gas Fields

TotalEnergies signed agreements to operate the Lang Lebah and B14 offshore gas fields in Sarawak to supply rising LNG demand in Asia.

TotalEnergies signed agreements on November 1, 2026, to acquire a 30% operated interest in the Lang Lebah and B14 offshore gas fields in Sarawak, Malaysia. The deals were finalized during the ADIPEC 2026 conference in Abu Dhabi with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, PTTEP, and KUFPEC.

Pending regulatory approval, TotalEnergies will serve as the operator of both fields with a 30% stake, while PTTEP and KUFPEC will each hold 25%, and PETRONAS Carigali will retain 20%. The integrated development is expected to unlock over 6.5 trillion cubic feet of gas resources, equivalent to more than 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

The project aims to provide a production plateau of approximately 10 billion cubic meters per annum to the existing Malaysia LNG liquefaction plant. This expansion follows the company's 2024 acquisition of SapuraOMV and a 2025 partnership expansion with PETRONAS to strengthen its integrated gas position in the region.
