JPMorgan Strategist Projects S&P 500 to Hit 8,200

Kriti Gupta of JPMorgan Private Bank projects the S&P 500 will reach approximately 8,200 by mid-2027, citing strong AI demand and corporate profit margins.

JPMorgan Private Bank strategist Kriti Gupta issued a bullish outlook for the S&P 500, projecting the index will reach approximately 8,200 by mid-2027. This target would represent a roughly 9.5% increase from the July 31 close of 7,489.81.

Gupta expects double-digit returns over the coming year despite market volatility stemming from Federal Reserve rate hike fears and an energy shock linked to conflict with Iran. Her analysis suggests that massive demand for artificial intelligence and the strongest net profit margins for S&P 500 companies since the global financial crisis will outweigh inflationary pressures.

She argues that higher interest rates alone cannot end bull markets unless they are accompanied by a sharp deterioration in economic growth, a condition she currently does not see in the market.
