Delhi High Court Blocks NCSC Action Against Police Commissioner

The Delhi High Court set aside recommendations from the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) that required the Delhi Police Commissioner to appear before the commission. The NCSC had been investigating allegations of caste-based discrimination during the recruitment of Assistant Sub-Inspectors specializing as radio technicians within the Delhi Police.

The ruling followed a writ petition filed by the Commissioner of Police, who argued that the dispute concerned a trade test evaluation and therefore constituted a service matter outside the commission's jurisdiction. Justice Sanjeev Narula directed the closure of the proceedings after the complainant submitted an affidavit confirming she had already initiated separate proceedings before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

As a result of the shift to the tribunal, the complainant agreed to withdraw the original complaint filed with the NCSC, leading the court to terminate the current proceedings.
