Bruce Blakeman Pledges to Repeal New York BitLicense

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman vowed to repeal New York State's BitLicense regulatory framework to attract cryptocurrency startups and maintain the state's financial status.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman pledged to repeal the BitLicense regulatory framework if elected governor of New York. Speaking at a press conference in Greenwich Village, Blakeman argued that the 2015 policy creates cost-prohibitive barriers for startups and prevents New York from remaining the financial capital of the world.

Blakeman criticized Governor Kathy Hochul for refusing to negotiate with the digital currency sector and characterized existing transaction taxes as oppressive. He stated his intention to foster a closer relationship between the public and private sectors to nurture the cryptocurrency business.

Additionally, Blakeman indicated he would use gubernatorial authority to prevent Mayor Zohran Mamdani from taking actions that could damage the economy of New York City.
