MP Rupert Lowe Earns Over £105,000 From X
Rupert Lowe has earned more than £105,000 from X's revenue-sharing scheme, nearly matching his annual salary as a Member of Parliament.
Rupert Lowe, the leader of Restore Britain and Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth, has earned over £105,000 from the social media platform X since the 2024 general election. Data from the register of MPs’ financial interests shows his hourly rate from the platform rose from £377 last year to £1,476 since June 2026.
The income is generated through a revenue-sharing scheme for premium subscribers that pays users based on the performance of their posts. The platform is owned by Elon Musk, who has repeatedly amplified Lowe's content.
Researchers and critics argue the payment model incentivizes divisive political content and provides funding for hard-right views in British politics. Lowe denies using his political position for financial gain, stating that he donates his net MP salary to local charities in his constituency.
