Sergey Lavrov Signals Readiness for Ukraine Compromises

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced Tuesday that Russia is prepared to seek reasonable compromises to settle the conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at an ambassadorial roundtable discussion in Moscow, Lavrov stated that Russia remains open to negotiations through both bilateral and trilateral formats.

Despite the openness to compromise, Lavrov emphasized that Russia's fundamental objectives remain unchanged. He specifically cited the necessity of ensuring national security by preventing the presence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on Russian borders.

Lavrov welcomed interest from the United States in facilitating a settlement. He asserted that the U.S. understands the root causes of the conflict more than other Western nations.
