Elon Musk to Expand Colossus 2 AI Supercomputer Capacity

Elon Musk announced that SpaceXAI will nearly double the number of Nvidia AI chips at its Colossus 2 data center in Memphis, Tennessee, by the end of 2026. Musk describes the complex as the world's largest AI supercomputer.

The facility currently operates 110,000 Nvidia GB200 chips and 440,000 Nvidia GB300 chips. The expansion plan involves adding 220,000 GB300 chips by next week, another 220,000 in November, and potentially a final 220,000 by late December.

While the facility originally supported the training of the Grok model, it now rents computing capacity to other AI firms, including Anthropic and Google. Musk did not specify if the facility has the power infrastructure required to support the additional hardware.
