NDC Proceeds With 2027 Campaign Amid APC Confidence
The Nigeria Democratic Congress is moving forward with its 2027 presidential campaign while the ruling APC predicts a landslide victory for President Bola Tinubu.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) announced it will proceed with its 2027 presidential campaign featuring Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, regardless of whether former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar joins the opposition alliance. Ibrahim Abdulkarim, Director-General of the NDC Presidential Campaign Council, stated that while Abubakar's participation would strengthen the alliance, the party will not abandon its efforts. Abdulkarim suggested the coalition could be organized under the NDC rather than the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In response, spokesperson Paul Ibe stated that opposition leaders are seeking a consensus arrangement and argued that no presidential aspirant should be forced to withdraw from the race.
Simultaneously, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed confidence in the re-election of President Bola Tinubu. Deputy National Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori asserted that Tinubu would defeat Abubakar even in his home state of Adamawa. Dalori attributed this confidence to federal infrastructure projects in the North-east and the influence of Vice President Kashim Shettima. To support these goals, National Coordinator Farida Musa Jauro pledged to mobilize over one million votes for the president across northern Nigeria through grassroots engagement.
