Elon Musk Postpones CNBC Interview as SpaceX Shares Dip
Elon Musk postponed a scheduled live CNBC interview on Friday, triggering a nearly 3% drop in SpaceX shares to below their IPO price.
Elon Musk abruptly postponed a heavily promoted live interview with CNBC on Friday, July 10, 2026, moments before the segment was scheduled to begin at noon Eastern Time. The interview was to be conducted by correspondent Julia Boorstin at the Allen & Co. gathering in Sun Valley, Idaho. This would have been Musk's first television appearance since the June 12 initial public offering of Space Exploration Technologies Corp., which raised a record $85.7 billion.
Musk was expected to discuss the launch of the Grok 4.5 artificial intelligence model by SpaceXAI and the company's pricing strategies in the face of rising component costs. Following the announcement of the postponement, SpaceX shares dropped nearly 3% to approximately $148. This decline is significant as it pushed the stock below its initial trading price of $150 per share.
On-air, CNBC anchor Scott Wapner informed viewers that the exclusive interview was no longer happening. Correspondent Julia Boorstin, stationed in Sun Valley, reported that the network had just received word that Musk had to postpone. SpaceX has not issued an official statement regarding the cancellation or the subsequent dip in share value.
