Malaysian Highway Authority Suspends Lane Closures for Johor Election

The Malaysian Highway Authority suspended highway lane closures to accommodate over 300,000 voters traveling to Johor for state elections on July 11.

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) suspended lane closure works on polling day, July 11, to facilitate the travel of more than 300,000 outstation voters heading to Johor for the state election. This group includes 130,184 first-time voters, many of whom commute daily from Singapore, with high concentrations in southern seats such as Kota Iskandar, Puteri Wangsa, and Tiram.

Chairman Hasni Mohammad advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and utilize the TuJu application. He specifically urged drivers to exercise caution at the third-lane construction site on the North-South Expressway between Simpang Renggam and Senai (North), maintain sufficient balances in e-wallets and debit cards for tolls, and adhere to speed limits. Only emergency repairs will be permitted on the highways during the polling period.
