AI Startup Othello Raises $8 Million for Sales Augmentation

Othello raised $8 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered real-time sales coaching platform used by Microsoft and Capital One.

Othello, an AI startup founded by Jared Zelman, raised $8 million in seed funding led by a16z Speedrun and Blue Owl Capital. The company provides a real-time sales augmentation layer that uses an on-screen overlay during video calls to suggest questions, answer technical queries, and flag missed opportunities based on a company's uploaded materials.

The platform utilizes proprietary AI models trained on 20 million hours of recorded sales calls and integrates with Google Workspace, Slack, and Salesforce. Othello reports that current customers, including Capital One and Microsoft, have seen win rates increase by 15% and ramp-up times for new representatives accelerate by 45%.

Othello intends to use the new capital to grow its engineering team from 20 to approximately 80 employees. Future development plans include features for individual seller coaching and the integration of the technology into smart glasses to support in-person meetings.
