Apollo Global Management Confirms Data Breach Targeting Financial Firms
Apollo Global Management confirmed hackers stole employee data via social engineering as part of a broader extortion campaign targeting major financial institutions.
Apollo Global Management confirmed a data breach that occurred between July 6 and July 10, 2026, after hackers accessed the firm's cloud platforms. The attackers used social engineering tactics, specifically phone calls, to manipulate employees into revealing their credentials.
Stolen data includes names, dates of birth, contact information, home addresses, and Social Security numbers. The firm has notified law enforcement, engaged forensic experts, and is providing affected individuals with complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services. Apollo stated it has found no evidence that the stolen information has been publicly posted or used for fraud.
This incident is part of a wider extortion campaign targeting major financial institutions and private equity firms. Point72 Asset Management also reported an attack, while hackers attempted to infiltrate Citadel, Millennium Management, and Two Sigma Investments.
