Apple Hires Nate Gatten as VP of Government Affairs
Apple Inc. appointed former American Airlines executive Nate Gatten to lead global government affairs amid a broader leadership transition including a new CEO.
Apple Inc. hired Nate Gatten, a former American Airlines Group Inc. executive with Republican ties, as its new vice president of government affairs. Gatten will begin his role on August 31, leading global government affairs operations and reporting to Senior Vice President and General Counsel Jennifer Newstead.
The appointment aims to align the company with the Trump administration, specifically concerning tariffs on overseas products. Gatten succeeds Kate Adams, who will remain as an adviser until her retirement on October 1.
This hiring occurs during a significant executive transition at the company. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook will hand the CEO reins to hardware chief John Ternus on September 1, while Cook transitions into the role of executive chairman.
