Robert Bosch GmbH to Spin Off Mobility Business by 2027
Robert Bosch GmbH will spin off its Mobility business and service units into separate subsidiaries to better compete with Asian rivals.
Robert Bosch GmbH announced plans to spin off its Mobility business and three central service units into separate, wholly owned limited liability company subsidiaries. The restructuring is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, with the new entities beginning operations on August 1, 2027. This move will transfer approximately 62,500 Germany-based staff into the new units, while the parent company transitions into a headquarters and central research body with a workforce of over 3,000.
Chairman Christian Fischer stated the restructuring is a response to an increasingly challenging environment and intensifying pressure from Asian competitors, designed to allow the car-parts business to adapt faster to market shifts. The Mobility sector is the company's largest but has faced financial decline, with its operating margin dropping from 3.8% in 2024 to 1.8% in 2025. The company is currently working to eliminate a yearly cost shortfall of roughly €2.5 billion.
A company spokesman clarified that despite the organizational change, Bosch is not planning an initial public offering, sale, or merger of the Mobility unit.
