Comcast and Paramount Review Future of SkyShowtime Streaming

Comcast and Paramount Skydance have launched a strategic review of SkyShowtime that may result in the European streaming service being shut down.

Joint owners Comcast and Paramount Skydance have initiated a strategic review of SkyShowtime, their European streaming venture, which includes the possibility of shutting down the business. The board of the joint venture notified CEO Monty Sarhan of the review in a letter on Monday, citing a highly challenging and rapidly evolving competitive landscape.

SkyShowtime currently operates in more than 20 European countries, aggregating content from Paramount, Sky Studios, and NBCUniversal. While the service continues to operate normally for partners and customers, the review follows reports of broader media consolidation and a shifting industry environment.

CEO Monty Sarhan informed staff of the board's decision, stating that his priority and that of the leadership team is to support employees as they work through the uncertainty. The board noted that no final decisions have been made and committed to following required consultation processes in each market if any resulting proposals affect the workforce.
