Indian Air Force Chief Visits Vietnam to Boost Military Ties

Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, conducted a three-day official visit to Vietnam starting August 4, 2026. The visit aimed to enhance bilateral military cooperation and strengthen Air Force engagement through capacity building and professional exchanges.

During his time in Hanoi, Singh held high-level discussions with General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence, and Lieutenant General Vu Hong Son, Commander of the Air Defence–Air Force Service. These talks took place under the framework of the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

As part of his itinerary, Singh paid tribute at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and visited Regiment 927 of the Vietnam Air Force. He also met with Indian Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa to discuss the ongoing developments in the bilateral relationship.

The current cooperation builds on previous defense milestones, including a 2025 Letter of Intent for defense industry cooperation and the July 2023 transfer of the Indian-built missile corvette, INS Kirpan, to Vietnam.
