Maruti Suzuki India Ltd Reports Record Sales Amid Profit Decline

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd achieved record sales volumes and revenue growth in Q1 but saw net profits fall 11% due to rising material costs.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd reported an 11% decline in net profit to Rs 3,352 crore for the first quarter ended July 31, 2026, despite a 36% increase in revenue to Rs 52,456 crore. The company achieved its highest-ever total sales volume of 682,724 units, marking 29% year-on-year growth. This expansion was supported by the commissioning of a second plant in Kharkhoda.

Profit margins were pressured by a 40.5% increase in expenses. This rise was driven by higher input costs for steel and commodities, which were aggravated by the war in Iran. Despite these headwinds, the company grew its domestic market share by 2.3 percentage points to 41.2%, with significant gains in SUV sales, which rose 45%, and small car sales, which increased 34%.

In a move toward cleaner fuel options, the company board approved four compressed biogas (CBG) projects with a total budget of Rs 561 crore.
