FSSAI Bans Dabur Products Over Misleading 100 Percent Claims

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a prohibition order on August 4, 2026, directing Dabur India Ltd to cease the sale of various food products, including honey, cow ghee, coconut milk, and edible oils. The regulator determined that labels featuring claims such as "100% Natural," "100% Pure," and "100% Organic" are ambiguous, unverifiable, and violate the FSS (Advertising & Claims) Regulations, 2018.

FSSAI also found that Dabur Himalayan Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and Dabur Organic Honey used the Jaivik Bharat logo without the required organic endorsement. This order follows an earlier notice to the company that did not result in satisfactory corrective measures. Dabur must now halt sales of the identified non-compliant products and submit an Action Taken Report within 15 days.

Dabur India Ltd defended its labeling as consistent with long-standing industry practices and stated that it has already begun transitioning its labels. Following the announcement, the company's shares fell between 2% and 4% on the BSE. In a separate parliamentary update, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav reported that 40,023 food samples were found non-conforming during the 2025-26 period.
