Iran Army Chief Declares Victory in Recent Conflict

Major General Amir Hatami, Iran's army chief, declared victory in a recent conflict during a ceremony in Rasht, Gilan province, on August 29, 2026. Hatami stated that an unnamed enemy failed to achieve its strategic and tactical objectives, specifically failing to destroy the missile and drone capabilities of Iran.

He asserted that Iranian air defenses remained firm and damaged several enemy manned and unmanned aircraft, as well as strategic military equipment. Hatami rejected claims that Iran's armed forces had been destroyed, arguing that the failure of an aggressor to meet its goals in a defensive war constitutes a victory for the defender.

Hatami further claimed that national cohesion is increasing under the leadership of the Supreme Leader and that the government, parliament, and security bodies continue to operate at full capacity.
