Seyi Makinde Pledges Four-Year Reset for Nigeria in 2027
Seyi Makinde, presidential candidate for the Allied People Movement, proposed a national unity government and a four-year reset agenda to address Nigeria's security and economy.
Governor of Oyo State and Allied People Movement presidential candidate Seyi Makinde pledged to reset Nigeria within four years if elected president in 2027. Speaking at a North Central Town Hall meeting in Lafia, Makinde outlined a reset agenda targeting security, education, the economy, and the socio-political environment. He proposed establishing a transitional government of national unity starting May 29, 2027, to secure sustainable development.
Makinde criticized the federal government for using voodoo economics, specifically citing a lack of budgetary provisions for army divisions announced in 2026. He highlighted the impact of fuel subsidy removals on his own administration, noting that Oyo State's dependence on federal allocations rose from 65 percent in 2022 to nearly 80 percent.
Allied People Movement National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle supported the campaign by urging voters to reject vote-buying. Dantalle emphasized that the 2027 election should prioritize competence over party labels to rescue the country from hunger and underdevelopment.
