BJP Condemns Congress Over Vande Mataram Restrictions
The Bharatiya Janata Party passed a resolution condemning the Indian National Congress for restricting the singing of Vande Mataram to its first two stanzas.
The Bharatiya Janata Party passed a resolution condemning the Indian National Congress for restricting the singing of the national song, Vande Mataram, to its first two stanzas at party events. Led by National President Nitin Nabin, the BJP characterized the full six-stanza version as an immortal symbol of national consciousness and announced a nationwide awareness campaign to protect its legacy.
The Indian National Congress defended its position, citing a 1937 resolution established by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Nana Patole accused the BJP of using nationalism to divert public attention from governance failures. Kharge further alleged that the BJP's ancestors remained loyal to British rule during the freedom struggle.
While this political dispute unfolded, Rahul Gandhi visited Pune to lead the Chhatron Ki Goonj youth initiative. This campaign, which previously visited Kota, Dehradun, and Prayagraj, aims to bring student grievances into the national political discourse.
