Maryland Early Voting Turnout Surges 67% Ahead of General Election
The Maryland State Board of Elections reports a significant increase in early voting turnout as the state prepares for the November 3 general election.
Early voting turnout in Maryland has surged 67% compared to four years ago, with 309,190 voters casting ballots through October 27. Data shows Democratic turnout increased by 81% and Republican turnout rose by 33%. Additionally, 305,690 of the 645,962 sent mail-in ballots have been returned.
The Maryland State Board of Elections is managing the process leading up to the general election on Tuesday, November 3. In-person early voting closes Thursday, October 29, with centers operating from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. State Administrator of Elections Jared DeMarinis has urged residents to utilize this window and noted that requests for print-at-home ballots are accepted until October 30.
To assist residents, the board released a voting glossary detailing options for mail-in ballots and same-day registration, which requires proof of residence. On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and any eligible voter in line by the closing time will be permitted to vote.
