Asim Munir Reviews Pakistan Ordnance Factory Production Capabilities

Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, visited the Pakistan Ordnance Factory in Wah on August 29, 2026. During the review of the country's largest defence industrial complex, Munir evaluated production capabilities, export potential, and the progress of the facility's corporatization following the enactment of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority (DIPRA) Ordinance.

As part of the visit, Munir witnessed trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition. He received briefings on the factory's role in strengthening the national defence industrial base and was informed that two new industrial plants are expected to begin production by the end of 2026 to expand domestic manufacturing and international market presence.

The Inter-Services Public Relations stated that the visit emphasizes the military's commitment to technological innovation and self-reliance. The overall objective of the review was to advance indigenous development to reduce dependence on foreign defence imports.
