Amazon Secures 200 Megawatts from Swedish Wind Farms

Amazon.com Inc. signed long-term agreements to purchase nearly 200 megawatts of electricity from four wind farms in Sweden. The deals involve the Boarp, Dållebo, and Fågelås farms, as well as the Fageråsen site currently under construction. These projects were developed by Eolus AB and OX2 AB.

This investment increases the company's total electricity supply in Sweden to over 1 gigawatt, a volume the company says can power more than 350,000 households annually. The energy will support the expansion of data center capacity in Eskilstuna, Katrineholm, and Västerås.

The infrastructure growth is intended to meet rising demand for cloud and AI services. As part of this broader scaling effort, the company plans to add 3 million Nvidia graphics processing units to its fleet between 2025 and 2028. Amazon stated that "capacity will be added across all three locations."
