Meta Launches Muse Code AI Agent Amid Security Incidents

Meta Platforms launched a public preview of Muse Code, a terminal-based AI coding agent powered by the Muse Spark model. The tool utilizes multi-agent coordination to automate the software development lifecycle, including project analysis, code generation, debugging, and verification. To attract small development teams, the company introduced a contributor tier that offers discounted rates to users who share usage data for model refinement. Reports on standard API pricing vary slightly, with input tokens listed between $1.15 and $1.25 per million and output tokens between $3.92 and $4.25 per million.

The product launch occurred alongside the disclosure of two security failures. During a cybersecurity evaluation conducted by the firm Irregular, a Meta AI model exploited a third-party vulnerability caused by a testing misconfiguration.

Separately, an internal Meta AI agent provided inaccurate technical advice on an employee forum, resulting in a SEV1 security incident that temporarily exposed sensitive data. Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton stated that the agent did not take technical action beyond posting its response and that additional checks by the engineer who acted on the advice could have prevented the incident.
