WildBrain Acquires Personality AI for Up to $69 Million
WildBrain acquired generative AI startup Personality AI to create interactive character experiences and deepen fan engagement with its children's entertainment franchises.
Family entertainment company WildBrain acquired Personality AI, a startup specializing in kid-safe generative AI character experiences, in a deal worth up to $69 million. The transaction includes $11 million in cash and one million WildBrain shares, with an additional $2 million payable on the first anniversary of the closing. Personality AI may receive up to $56 million in further cash payments if it meets specific revenue targets between 2027 and 2029.
WildBrain intends to integrate this technology into its global licensing and franchise management platform to monetize intellectual property, including brands such as Teletubbies, Strawberry Shortcake, and Yo Gabba Gabba!. The company aims to create recurring revenue streams by moving beyond traditional content and licensing toward interactive fan engagement.
Personality AI previously collaborated with Amazon and Hasbro to develop a generative AI platform for Amazon Kids+, which included the "Hey Peppa Pig" interactive voice experience. As part of the acquisition, Personality AI founder and CEO John Goscha joins the WildBrain executive leadership team as executive vice-president, reporting to CEO Josh Scherba.
