Air Astana Reports Revenue Growth Amid Net Losses

Air Astana JSC reported a 16.1% increase in total revenue for the first half of 2026, reaching $763.9 million, despite recording a net loss of $21.2 million for the period. Second-quarter revenue rose 18.3% to $433.0 million, though the airline saw a net loss of $0.1 million compared to an $18.0 million profit in the previous year.

The company attributed the decline in profitability to several external factors, including higher international fuel prices and a 7% strengthening of the Kazakh tenge against the U.S. dollar. Additionally, the airline incurred significant expenses related to technical issues with engines manufactured by Pratt & Whitney.

Despite these financial headwinds, the airline expanded its network in China by adding services to Guangzhou, Urumqi, and Xi’an. Air Astana maintains a long-term growth strategy with the goal of expanding its fleet to 86 aircraft by 2030.
