Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 Lineup

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8. The new lineup emphasizes slimmer designs and deep integration with Google's Gemini Intelligence platform. The Z Fold 8 Ultra serves as the high-end flagship with an 8-inch display and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, while the Z Flip 8 introduces an AI-native FlexWindow.

Through a partnership with Google, these devices are the first to carry the "with Gemini Intelligence" badge, signifying a performance benchmark of at least 12GB of RAM. The hardware utilizes Gemini Nano 4 to support over 140 languages and advanced task automation across 40 apps, including travel and shopping. To drive adoption, Google is providing six-month complimentary AI Pro subscriptions. Samsung also announced AI-powered smart glasses developed with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, set for a fall 2026 release.

To ease user migration, Google and Apple collaborated on a rebuilt Android Switch tool in Android 17, allowing wireless transfer of eSIMs and passwords from iPhones to Samsung devices. Additionally, Samsung added Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop for bi-directional file sharing.

Executive Roh Tae-moon defended Samsung's market lead, stating that seven years of expertise cannot be matched overnight, particularly as Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in September. The devices will roll out globally starting August 7, with special discounted pricing implemented for the South Korean market.
