Samsung Debuts Flex Titanium in Galaxy Z Fold 8
Samsung Electronics unveiled Flex Titanium technology in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to eliminate the visible crease in foldable displays.
Samsung Electronics introduced Flex Titanium technology during its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, 2026, featuring the tech in the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The structural overhaul aims to remove the visible crease common in foldable screens by combining a micro-patterned titanium support plate with a precision-rolled titanium-alloy film.
The new titanium film is approximately one-third the thickness of a human hair yet remains 20 times stiffer than the polymer plastics used in previous models. To ensure the screen stays flat when unfolded, the support plate utilizes micro-patterned holes to eliminate air gaps. Samsung also integrated new organic materials to increase power efficiency.
The company developed this technology to meet consumer demand for more immersive displays and to counter increasing competition from foldable phone manufacturers such as Honor, OPPO, and Vivo.
