Boston Dynamics appointed former Amazon.com Inc. executive Rohit Prasad as its new chief executive officer. Prasad takes the helm of the robotics firm to lead efforts in the commercialization of robots and the development of physical AI designed for industrial and real-world environments.
The company is controlled by Hyundai Motor Company, which became the majority owner in 2021. Under this leadership transition, Hyundai intends to deploy the Atlas robot at its manufacturing plant in Georgia beginning in 2028. The parent company aims to establish a production capacity of up to 30,000 humanoid robots per year.
