MP P. Sandosh Kumar Demands Inquiry Into Delhi Police Misconduct
Member of Parliament P. Sandosh Kumar urged Home Minister Amit Shah to investigate Delhi Police for concealing identity badges and using violence against protesters.
Member of Parliament P. Sandosh Kumar called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah to launch a time-bound inquiry into the conduct of the Delhi Police. In a letter sent on October 3, 2026, Kumar alleged that police personnel remove or conceal their identity badges before detaining protesters or using force to avoid accountability.
Kumar, a member of the CPI, was detained on October 2 during a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He accused the police of using violence, arbitrary detentions, and manhandling against peaceful mobilizations at sites designated by the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal.
The MP demanded investigations into the deployment of plain-clothes personnel and the use of facial recognition systems. He asserted that "identification is fundamental to accountability when the State exercises coercive power against citizens."
