Google Cuts AI Plus Price and Doubles Cloud Storage

Google reduced its AI Plus subscription price to $4.99 and increased cloud storage to 400GB to better compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT Go.

Google reduced the monthly subscription price of its AI Plus plan from $7.99 to $4.99, or the local equivalent, while doubling the included cloud storage from 200GB to 400GB. The storage increase applies globally across Google Drive, Photos, and Gmail and supports family sharing for up to six members. In India, the monthly price remains unchanged at Rs 399 despite the storage upgrade.

The updated plan provides access to Gemini 3.1 Pro, Nano Banana Pro, Deep Research, and Gemini Omni, alongside specialized tools like NotebookLM and Omni Flash video generation. As part of a broader restructuring of its AI membership tiers, Google also introduced a 2TB storage tier for just under 10 euros per month and adjusted its AI Ultra pricing, reducing the upper tier from 250 euros to 200 euros. AI Pro storage was also increased to 5TB.

These changes follow AI announcements from Apple's WWDC 2026 and are designed to attract budget-conscious users and students. The strategy positions the entry-level plan more aggressively against OpenAI's ChatGPT Go, signaling a shift toward the commoditization of AI infrastructure in the U.S. market. Existing subscribers will receive the storage increase within a few days and the price reduction on their next billing cycle.
