Azerbaijan Special Forces Conduct Joint Exercises in Pakistan and Uzbekistan

Azerbaijani special forces completed two separate joint military exercises in Pakistan and Uzbekistan focusing on counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and regional security cooperation.

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan deployed special forces to two separate international military exercises within a 48-hour window to improve interoperability and counter-terrorism capabilities.

On October 5, Azerbaijani Navy personnel participated in the Joint Special Operations Forces Exercise in Karachi, Pakistan. Conducted under a protocol between the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense and the Headquarters of the Pakistan Armed Forces, the training focused on diving operations and the liberation of vessels seized by terrorist groups.

Following the Pakistan drills, Azerbaijani forces joined counterparts from Türkiye and Uzbekistan for the Eternal Brotherhood – V exercise in Uzbekistan on October 6. These multinational drills involved infiltration behind simulated enemy lines, reconnaissance, and the seizure of key facilities across mountainous terrain and populated areas. The training included day and night firing drills with sniper rifles and small arms.

Major General Alakbar Jahangirov, Commander of the Azerbaijan Special Forces, observed the final phase of the Uzbekistan exercise and commended the preparedness of the Azerbaijani personnel. Both sets of exercises aimed to align standard operating procedures and exchange tactical experience in realistic combat conditions.
