Andhra Pradesh Orders Repolling After Booth Capturing Reports
State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha ordered repolling at 12 stations across six urban local bodies in Andhra Pradesh following reports of booth capturing.
The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission initiated repolling on November 2 at 12 polling stations across six urban local bodies following reports of booth capturing during the November 1 elections. State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha voided the initial results at these stations, stating that the poll process had been vitiated and voters were deprived of their right to vote.
Repolling took place from 7 am to 5 pm in the Pulivendula, Jammalamadugu, and Macherla municipalities, the Chimakurthy municipality, and the Kadapa and Anantapuramu municipal corporations. These actions followed general polling for 100 urban local bodies on Sunday, which recorded a tentative voter turnout of 60.3 per cent across 3,453 wards.
