Human Rights Group Reports 824 Minority Rights Violations in Bangladesh

The Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM) documented 824 human-rights violations against religious and ethnic minority communities in Bangladesh between January and June 2026. In a report titled 'The Persecution Continues: Minority Communities Under Sustained Attack in Bangladesh', the organization detailed incidents across 63 of the country's 64 districts.

The documented abuses include murders, kidnappings, land grabbing, and attacks on religious institutions. The report highlighted specific vulnerabilities among women and girls, recording 41 incidents of sexual violence, and noted targeted attacks against indigenous groups, including the Chakma and Tripura communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Characterizing the violence as a systemic environment of insecurity rather than isolated criminal acts, the HRCBM has called on the government of Bangladesh to establish an independent national inquiry. The organization further urged the creation of a centralized monitoring mechanism to track minority-rights incidents.
