Qatar Criticizes US Sanctions on Iran as Unilateral

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar characterized new United States sanctions on Iran as unilateral following the launch of Operation Economic Outcast. This US campaign aims to isolate Iran from the global financial system, but Qatari spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari stated that regional stability requires negotiated political settlements rather than economic pressure.

While Qatar continues to act as a neutral intermediary to bring Washington and Tehran back to the negotiating table, Al-Ansari noted that no new developments have occurred in the mediation process in recent weeks. He simultaneously accused Iran of violating international law by closing the Strait of Hormuz and emphasized that restoring freedom of navigation in the waterway is a priority.

Al-Ansari further rejected Iranian attempts to involve regional neighbors when Tehran is attacked by third parties. Regarding the conflict in Gaza, he called for pressure on Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement under President Donald Trump's plan.
