Maria Hutchins Calls for Removal of Senator Susan Collins

Maria Hutchins of Mount Desert issued a public demand for the removal of U.S. Senator Susan Collins. Hutchins alleges that Collins provided billions of dollars in funding to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement without implementing necessary reforms, which she claims has enabled systemic violence and human rights abuses.

Hutchins characterizes the agency as a "fascist army" and asserts it is responsible for the indiscriminate kidnapping of immigrants, including more than 500 infants and toddlers. As a specific example of the resulting violence, she cited a July 13 incident in Biddeford, Maine, where a father was shot through a car windshield in the presence of his three-year-old daughter.

This call for the senator's removal comes during the ongoing 2026 Maine Democratic race for the U.S. Senate.
