Thailand Launches National Workforce Overhaul for Good Job Economy
The Thai government announced a structural overhaul of its national workforce strategy to combat technological disruption and geopolitical pressures through a new Good Job Economy initiative.
The Government of Thailand announced a major structural overhaul of its national workforce strategy on May 1, 2026. Deputy Prime Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat detailed the initiative as a response to internal disruptions, including an aging population and the rise of artificial intelligence, as well as external geopolitical pressures and supply chain volatility caused by Middle East conflicts.
The strategy transitions the national focus toward a Good Job Economy, prioritizing employment quality and income security over raw economic growth. To achieve this, the government is launching a unified national skills database to improve employer-worker matching and the Learn with Budget, Graduate with a Job funding program to upskill laborers for the digital economy.
Additional measures include transforming agricultural workers into smart farmers and extending social safety nets to workers in the informal and gig economies. The plan represents an inter-ministry effort to modernize the labor market against systemic technological and global instability.
