Ukraine Destroys MiG-29 and Pantsir-S1 in Kursk Drone Strike
Ukrainian forces struck the Khalino military airfield in Russia's Kursk region, destroying a fighter jet and an air defense system valued at $45 million.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a successful drone strike on the Khalino military airfield in the Kursk region of Russia. The operation, executed by the 15th Separate Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade “Chorny Forest,” resulted in the destruction of a MiG-29 fighter jet and a Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system.
Military authorities estimated the combined value of the destroyed equipment at approximately $45 million, attributing $25 million to the MiG-29 and $20 million to the Pantsir-S1. Khalino serves as a dual-use facility, operating as both the Kursk-Vostok International Airport and a Russian military airbase.
Although the General Staff released drone footage of the operation to confirm the hits, they did not clarify whether the equipment was entirely destroyed or suffered severe damage.
