Elon Musk Urges Republican Votes to Prevent One-Party State
Elon Musk urged voters to support Republican candidates in the 2026 midterms to prevent a potential Democratic sweep and permanent one-party rule by 2028.
Elon Musk urged American voters to support Republican candidates in the 2026 midterm elections to prevent a potential Democratic clean sweep of the House, Senate, and presidency in 2028. In a post on X, Musk warned that unified Democratic control would lead to the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word, transforming the United States into a permanent one-party state.
Musk argued that a Democratic majority would allow the party to grant statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, legalize undocumented immigrants to cement a permanent majority, and expand the Supreme Court. He asserted that securing 51 Republican senators in 2029 is the only way to ensure these outcomes are avoided, claiming that failure to do so would mean it is "game over for America."
To support these efforts, Musk contributed $276 million to Republican super PACs and organizations over three months, including $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund. U.S. Representative Nancy Mace agreed with Musk's warnings and urged citizens to vote Republican. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criticized the spending, claiming Musk is flooding the midterms with money to help Donald Trump.
