Reform UK Suspends Candidate After Undercover Racism Probe

Reform UK suspended aspiring candidate Jason Powell after an undercover investigation recorded party members making racist remarks and advocating for concentration camps.

An undercover investigation by ITV captured Reform UK members and candidates using racist language and advocating for extreme violence. Aspiring parliamentary candidate Jason Powell was recorded stating that Muslims cannot be British and suggesting that asylum seekers crossing the English Channel be placed in concentration camps. The party subsequently suspended Powell.

Other footage from the probe, including recordings at a Farage Fest event, showed councillors Adam Parkins and David Kerr advocating for the mass execution of grooming gang perpetrators. Additional revelations included candidates referring to black children as animals and describing areas as infested with Asian families. Reform MP Sarah Pochin further characterized the party as chauvinistic, claiming the organization excludes women.

Party leader Nigel Farage defended the organization's vetting procedures, arguing that some individuals may have been provoked and that it is impossible to vet people for future comments. Reform UK stated it has opened investigations into the inappropriate behavior and maintains that racism has no place in the party.

Labour Party chair Bridget Phillipson responded by calling Farage completely unfit to lead. She alleged that the scandals and revelations of racism and misogyny extend to the top of the party, asserting that Farage shares culpability for the culture.
