IBM and Sarvam AI Partner to Scale Sovereign AI in India
IBM and Indian startup Sarvam AI partnered to develop sovereign AI technologies for government agencies and regulated enterprises across India.
IBM and Indian AI startup Sarvam AI have partnered to accelerate the development and adoption of sovereign artificial intelligence technologies in India. The collaboration targets government agencies, public sector organizations, and regulated enterprises, with a specific focus on administrative workflows, document processing, grievance redressal, and citizen services.
The partnership integrates IBM Sovereign Core with a sovereign AI stack from Sarvam AI that includes reasoning models and multilingual voice and language AI trained within India. To support these efforts, the IBM GovTech AI Innovation Center in Lucknow will act as a joint incubation and demonstration hub where applications are evaluated before scaling.
This initiative is designed to give organizations greater control over data, security, and governance to ensure alignment with Indian regulatory requirements. The integration aims to allow citizens to resolve grievances or access benefits using their own languages via phone calls.
